A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE V.C. MANNING FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

WHEREAS, Representative V.C. Manning, a resident of Philadelphia, Mississippi, has served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives; and

WHEREAS, Representative Manning earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree from Mississippi State University; and

WHEREAS, after serving a four-year term in the State Senate beginning in 1984, Representative Manning was elected Superintendent of Education for Neshoba County Schools, where he served from 1988 through 1995; and

WHEREAS, in 1996, Representative Manning was elected to the House of Representatives, and currently he serves on the Apportionment and Elections Committee, the Conservation and Water Resources Committee, the Education Committee, the Labor Committee and the Transportation Committee; and

WHEREAS, Representative Manning has ably and effectively represented his constituents of Neshoba County, especially in the area of education; and

WHEREAS, during the 1997 Legislative Session, Representative Manning played a key role in guiding the Mississippi Adequate Education Program Act to passage; and

WHEREAS, Representative Manning has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his faithful wife, Denise; and

WHEREAS, Representative Manning is respected by his colleagues for his conscientious attitude toward his legislative responsibilities, and his presence in the House will certainly be missed:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and express deepest appreciation to Representative V.C. Manning for his outstanding service as a member of the House of Representatives and extend to him our heartiest wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative V.C. Manning and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
